The laundry basket may have a place beside the dresser, but only while the bottom drawer stays closed. Open the drawer, pull the basket forward, get what you need, and leave the basket where it now blocks the path around the bed.
The bedroom chair requires far less negotiation. Before long, it has become a hamper with a backrest.
The better spot may be the narrow strip beside the dresser rather than a full corner. A slim laundry hamper with a removable liner uses 16.3 by 9.5 inches of floor and stands 27.6 inches high. That shape puts the laundry upward instead of letting the basket spread into the room.
Nine and a half inches sounds slim until the hamper meets an open drawer. Beside a dresser, both may need the same patch of floor. If the hamper has to be pulled forward each morning, it will soon be sitting in the walkway again.
Once the hamper is in that gap, it should not have to come out every laundry day. The inner bag lifts free, leaving the outer basket beside the furniture. This matters more in a cramped bedroom than a handle on the outside. A handle still means pulling the whole hamper through the same narrow opening.
The outer basket uses support rods, a base panel, and a frame around the top to hold its shape. It is still made from fabric. The liner should carry a full load rather than the hamper being dragged across the floor by its rim.
Not everything on the bedroom chair is ready for the wash. A rolling rack gives worn clothes somewhere to wait instead of letting them mix with the laundry.
